Backpacks for Mothers

What style or design do you use for your nappy/diaper bag? I recommend using backpack design for a safer option for all mothers. It is so important to keep body alignment after having a baby.

When we leave the home with our babies we often have many supplies that end up weighing a lot in our bags. Just think about how much damage it could be doing to our bodies when we use a shoulder bag. Think about how long we have the bag sitting there and we even juggle holding and transporting our children at the same time.

The photo above demonstrates my personal nappy bag (from Isoki and can be purchased here). It has many compartments and it is fantastic to be hands free. I also clip it to the handle of my pram/stroller. Ideally, it would also include a sternum strap and hip strap for extra support. It is also a good idea to pack heavier items closer to the back. .

The AOTA have done some fabulous research into backpacks for school children but I think much of the information is relevant for mothers also. Check out some resources here from that research.
